X-Bomber – Available for pre-order on DVD
by Phil LongI ‘Became a Fan’ for the X-Bomber page on Facebook and noticed that somebody had posted about the fact that Starfleet: X-Bomber was due to be released on DVD soon. It’s up for pre-order on Amazon here:

Star Fleet – Series 1 – Complete
at time of writing it’s priced at £28.98 (reduced from full price).
For those not-in-the know, Star Fleet: X-Bomber was a puppet series based around the crew of the X-Bomber (and big giant huge robot Dai-X) who fought to protect Earth from the evil Makara. No strings in this though as the puppets were controlled from below. It was broadcast on ITV in the early 80’s (I expect I must remember repeats, given broadcast date was around 82/83) and had a story that ran through all 25 episodes. I’ve watched the odd episode recently and it’s stood up to the test of time well – so I’m getting it ordered. At last I can prove it existed (it seems many people didn’t see it and were doubtful of my sanity when I described it).

Is it the proper series?
It did make it to video (Remember video? You used to rent videos from blockbuster. I think they only ever had Big Trouble in Little China and the endless Nightmare on Elm Street films), however the videos were bits of episodes put together in film like things, and were rather naff.
X-Bomber approaching.
Lamia, Shiro, Hercules, some fat bloke a professor who dies and a pet Hoth Womper.
Those were the days!
Aye, it’s the proper series, Maff – think it’s 25 episodes or something, plus extras!
That’s extras as in DVD extras, not extras like a masseuse…
