Le Mans (Part Three) – Bird Garden

by Phil Long

This part is primarily a photo post as I think that’s really the best way to illustrate what we did on day seven – Friday, July 11. We headed to the Jardin de Oisueux near Spay. This is basically a bird garden, quite small (but not too small) and also quite cheap. It also has other small animals in, like a reptile area, Dingos, Wallabies, Racoons and Skunks. This gave me a chance to get some photography in, and I probably filled up around 3GB of my memory cards (including the ones I’ve later deleted).

So, anyway, here are some of the photos, click to go to Flickr:

Once finished at the bird garden it was back to the boat for our second barbeque (via Champion, where we grabbed beer and barbeque things). As the Le Mans Classic was starting on Friday we saw a lot of English cars – including some classics and a Ferrari F40 (unfortunately nobody had a camera ready as we drove along so we didn’t manage to capture a shot of it).

Day eight, Saturday, July 12, was a day of shopping. We picked up tickets for entry to the Le Mans Classic on Sunday, then headed to the big supermarket – Auchan – to grab beer and wine to bring back to England. We figured it best to get this done early as its unlikely that anywhere will be open on Monday. We also made sure we had sufficient food to last us until we headed home.

As I write it is Saturday evening, and I’ve basically just been catching up on the RSS feeds I downloaded when in MacDonalds yesterday (I headed there while people were showering) and sorting through photos. Oh, and writing blog posts for Part Two and Part Three. ;)
