Utter confusion
by Phil LongFrom the title you can already conclude that I’ve been watching the Rugby Union World Cup Final for England vs South Africa. We lost, from what I could tell - but this is the first time I’ve ever watched Rugby Union for an entire game and I really didn’t understand it at all. I’ve watched League and that’s far far simpler (attended a couple of Wire vs Saints games plus I have had cause to viddy the odd game on telly too) - far more accessible. Union… is just weird.
Less confusing was Liverpool’s win over Everton today, though I’m sure blues fans would argue that the ref’ was confused as to the rules of the game. Shame.
The confusing aspect of that was Rafa’s unwillingness to change the game when Everton got to grips with our field - and the bizarreness of removing Gerrard from a game that we needed to win. To me it would have made more sense to take Sissoko off instead of Gerrard - and bring Pennant on in his place to give us width and pace against a tiring Everton, down to 10 men. Still, had that change been made we may not have seen the Neville family runt being red carded for playing goal keeper. So - not all bad. ![]()
