Underpants… or something…
by Phil LongI went to see Underworld on Saturday afternoon (September, 20).
Hobbled in to the Warner Village at Cheshire Oaks to hear a primate which had so far only mastered it’s basic instinctive verbal communicative skills mutter something about ‘Underpants’ and the fact that myself, and fellow film-viewer Slick, did not want to see said underwear of the gentleman serving popcorn and drinks.
Despite his poor grip on communication, he was suprisingly accurate and no request was made to see anybody’s underpants. Not even those of the nice blonde lass who was stood - unamused - by the monkey’s anticts.
Underworld itself was an entertaining film. It didn’t tax the brain - a clear action film - but the general theme (and Kate Beckinsall in PVC) made for an enjoyable watch which carefully avoided painful cliché and the mediocre.
Definately one to watch. Marks out of ten ? 7.5.
A film myself and a few friends watched on Friday was ‘Adaptation’ - with Nicholas Cage playing the Kaufman brothers - who wrote ‘Being John Malchovich’. Great film, bit of tragedy, bit of comedy, and a thinker. Eight out of ten - even though it has ‘Wooden’ Cage in it.
