Summer?!
by Phil LongWell, March, 2003 and we’ve already been able to have our first BBQ of the year ! Not bad, particularly as the weather was better than any of the BBQs we had in the UK last year !
In fact it was almost a summer afternoon with Saturday beginning - for me - with a quick trip into town in the Morning (yes, AM on a Saturday!) for a hair cut. Then to B&Q for some screws - some would say that’s the only way I get to screw recently. To them I would say “try getting a pitch-fork out of your face with your arms chopped off by a Samurai sword”. They’d probably get the hint.
Later, it was off to the pub for a pint and a burger - sitting outside the Poacher in Gorse Covert with my sunglasses on watching the world go by. Then, washing my car at home and to Wigan to get pissed.
Sunday, well - after waking up far to early considering the night before, it was off to Forest Park in Birchwood for what my friends and I call Football. The rest of the civilised world probably wouldn’t, however.
After that, it was home for the worse planned BBQ ever - even the 4am BBQ of 2002 that Dom and I had after he forgot his house keys seemed like it had been weeks in the making by comparison. Good ol’ 24 hour ASDA!
This coming week - well, as usual it’s a case of too much month left at the end of the money. Boozing at Tha Werld on Friday night tho, and probably picking up Freelancer and a 120gig HDD on Saturday. Looking forward to not having to negotiate my way through real-life for a while. ![]()
